EARTH VOICES - SAME

It's a unique album for tuba & synthesizer featuring Beppe Crovella's compositions and synthesizer work and Daryl Smith's Tubas (that played with Henry Mancini's orchestra and perfomrd in 5 Zappa's album, including the great classic "Yellow Shark").

Earth Voices is a compact disc that you will play in your multi-disc player for a long time without changing. The creativity of Beppe Crovella's compositions featuring the artistry of Daryl Smith's tuba comes together in a CD that's provocative in concept, innovative in scope, and just plain "fun" to listen to.
The combination of solo tuba with synthesized sounds works very well on "Fluting. Floating and Flowing" which starts the CD with an enviromental texture over which Daryl's tuba sings like an angel from the heavens.
"Funtastiska" is one of my favourite - a funky march that starts with a person's cough and ends with a party scene something not unlike "Beatles' White". Your Beatlesmaniac will know what I mean.
Than there's "Boomeria" whose style catapults us back into the nineties and Just when you think that Crovella and Smith has covered it all, they come out with "Ambrosia Tango" featuring an accordion that takes us to another place altogether.
Infact the spectrum of styles and moodsis vast. Crovella, who does everything but stand on his head on this album, takes us on quite a music voyage. "A Love Song", scored for tuba alone. Is both moving and respectful Of tuba melodies of past composers like Wagner, prokofiev and Vaughan Williams, the extreme registersin "Solo In The Crowd"are as vistuosic as most any of today's contemporary writing, and that's not to mention the "lighter" side that never looses sight of entertainment.
So if you have a multi-disc player, this recording will most likely to be ùa permanent resident.
I THINK IT IS A GREAT CD! Let the fun begin!
